CII Karnataka is organised the 3rd Edition of  the Annual Flagship Electric Vehicle Conference “Electric Vehicles : Propellers of Sustainable Mobility for the Future” on 22th September 2022 from 1000 -1700 Hrs at Hotel Taj West End, Bengaluru.

21 students of II semester MBA and Dr.Uma Devi Ananth, Associate Professor were invited as delegates to participate in this event. Ms.Praschilla  of section B, II sem and Mr.Hemanth Kumar of Section D,  II Sem were selected as Interns by CII , and worked for a duration of 25 days to help in organizing the event.

Indian auto component industry derives 29% of its revenue from the global market with Europe and North America accounting for 62% of exports from India. These markets are undergoing significant changes with electrification; hence it is imperative for the industry to be accelerate its ready. India has the vision and capability to be in the forefront in the global EV revolution. With Indian Government’s renewed thrust on electric mobility through key initiatives such as the evolving FAME scheme, E-Amrit (Government Portal), announcement of PLI for Auto sector and ACC Battery manufacturing and the willingness to custom build schemes to ensure that opportunities in e-mobility in India are irresistible for Indian, Global corporations and startups, the sector hold tremendous growth and employment potential.

The CII Karnataka EV Conference has evolved to become the leading platform bringing together participation of representative comprising domestic and international business leaders, investors, financial institutions, technology leaders, energy consumer/prosumer industries,  R&D institutions, Startups from India & overseas, policy think tanks and academia to deliberate and dialogue on the roadmap for building a dynamic and robust ecosystem for the growth and development of the industry in Karnataka.

CII Karnataka Electric Vehicle Conference was  a unique platform that aimed to support India’s ambition of harnessing electric mobility by serving as a premiere networking and insight-sharing industry forum. The conference brought together the thought leaders and ‘who’s who’ of the industry under one roof to discuss and deliberate on issues to be addressed and opportunities to be explored in order to push the sector towards a higher growth path.

Looking ahead, the government has laid out an ambitious vision to bring secure, affordable and sustainable energy to all its citizens. This in-depth review aimed to assist the government in meeting its energy policy objectives by setting out a range of recommendations in each area, with a focus on energy system transformation, energy security and energy affordability.

The overall conference was chaired by Mr Venu Nuguri, Convenor CII Karnataka Energy & Infrastructure Panel & Managing Director & CEO, Hitachi Energy in India and South Asia

Learning and Takeaways:

The students had a great opportunity to understand the sunrise sector of Electric vehicles and alternate renewable energy sources for achieving net zero emission targets set by UN SDG and the Indian Government. The opportunities and challenges faced by this sector and the tremendous rate of growth that India is achieving were other important take aways. Students also were able to interact with business leaders and got insights into business, employment and investment opportunities in this sector.
